Brandfolder
As lead designer, I led the end-to-end design of Brandguide, a product within Brandfolder that transforms static brand guidelines into dynamic, web-based brand experiences.
Traditional brand guidelines are often distributed as PDFs that quickly become outdated, difficult to navigate, and disconnected from the latest approved assets. Our goal was to create a living source of truth that made brand governance effortless while remaining approachable for every stakeholder—from designers and marketers to agencies, partners, and executives.
Brandguide
The challenge
Organizations invest heavily in defining their brand, but maintaining consistency at scale is difficult. Teams struggle to find the latest assets, external partners often work from outdated materials, and brand managers spend valuable time answering repetitive questions or distributing files.
We needed to create a product that could:
Make brand standards instantly accessible
Eliminate outdated guideline documents
Reduce dependency on design teams
Scale across organizations of any size
Preserve flexibility for unique brand needs
My contribution
I led the product design strategy and user experience for Brandguide, focusing on simplicity, scalability, and self-service.
Key areas of ownership included:
Information architecture and content hierarchy
Authoring and editing workflows
Customizable page-building experiences
Asset integration and content management patterns
Sharing and publishing experiences
Design system alignment and visual polish
Design approach
A core principle was reducing the gap between asset management and brand education.
Rather than requiring teams to manually update guidelines, Brandguide pulls directly from Brandfolder assets, ensuring guidelines stay current as brands evolve. This transformed brand documentation from a static deliverable into a continuously updated experience.
We also prioritized ease of use through flexible, modular content blocks that allowed non-technical users to build rich brand experiences without relying on developers or designers. Advanced users could further customize their guides through custom styling and code when needed.
Impact
Brandguide helped organizations create centralized, always-up-to-date brand destinations that improved brand consistency and reduced operational friction. By combining governance, education, and asset distribution into a single experience, the product empowered teams to confidently use brand assets while maintaining control and consistency across channels.
The most rewarding aspect of this project was designing a solution that balanced power and simplicity. Teams could launch professional, branded guideline experiences in minutes while still supporting the complexity required by enterprise organizations.
Brandguide turned brand standards from something people were expected to read into something they could actively use.
